I had originally intended to produce two drawings on copper plate for printing. However, as I could not draw the object I had to abandon that idea and create it with welded steel. I was then able to measure and describe the object and, with measurements of the space it inhabited, create a three-dimensional computer model. This model enabled me to view the object in a two-dimensional form thereby overcoming some of my initial difficulty in describing it.
The model was used with a modified HP pen plotter to produce two drawings on copper plates. The plates were etched, inked and printed onto paper using a bookbinders nipping press. This method was chosen so as to reproduce (as opposed to simulate) the lines of the object.
The description, model and drawings are all limited by their form. Despite my best efforts none of them accurately described the object which necessitated the inclusion of its welded steel form in the exhibition.
